I am a qualified CBT therapist with a strong foundation in trauma-informed care and extensive experience supporting individuals with complex emotional and psychological needs. I hold a postgraduate qualification in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and have worked within NHS services, delivering evidence-based interventions to diverse client groups, including those experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, and interpersonal difficulties.

In my clinical work, I adopt a compassionate, client-centred approach that aligns closely jwith LGBTQ+-affirmative practice. I have experience working with themes highly relevant to LGBTQ+ clients, including identity development, shame, self-acceptance, relationship difficulties, and the impact of stigma and discrimination. My understanding of trauma—particularly shame-based and complex trauma—enables me to support clients navigating internalised negative beliefs, which can often intersect with experiences of marginalisation.

I am confident delivering therapy in remote settings, having conducted sessions via secure video platforms and telephone within NHS services. I am skilled in building therapeutic rapport online, maintaining engagement, and ensuring clients feel safe, heard, and supported in virtual environments.

My clinical competencies include conducting structured assessments, developing collaborative formulations, and creating tailored treatment plans. I maintain accurate and confidential clinical records in line with professional and ethical standards, and I am experienced in risk assessment, safeguarding, and signposting to additional services when required.

I am committed to inclusive, non-judgmental practice and continuously reflect on my work to ensure cultural sensitivity and responsiveness to diverse identities, including sexual orientation and gender identity. My communication style is empathetic, respectful, and attuned to each client’s individual experience.

Alongside my clinical skills, I have a reliable and private home working setup, allowing me to deliver consistent, professional, and confidential online therapy.

I am motivated to contribute to a service that prioritises accessible, affirming mental health support for LGBTQ+ individuals and would bring both clinical expertise and genuine commitment to this role.

As a trauma-informed practitioner with over 20 years of experience , I offer a space of radical acceptance for those whose identities and lifestyles sit outside conventional therapeutic boundaries. My practice is built on a foundation of "written warmth" and non-directive support, specifically tailored for the LGBTQIA+ community and those navigating complex, non-traditional relationship dynamics or alternative lifestyle structures. I have a proven track record of successfully engaging with individuals who have previously been deemed "too difficult" or "complex" by other services, including those managing psychosis, high-risk safeguarding needs, or severe neurodivergent distress. While I am currently a Post-Graduate Diploma student formalising my extensive frontline experience through BACP-accredited training at the Norwich Centre, I provide a structured yet deeply empathetic container for clients to explore their fullest selves without the fear of judgement or the need for clinical sanitisation.

My practice is built on the belief that your identity is a strength, not a symptom. Together, we will work to navigate the unique stressors of living in a heteronormative world while building resilience and self-compassion.
Whether you are navigating the coming-out process, exploring gender/sexual identity, dealing with family dynamics, or simply seeking support for anxiety or depression without your identity being pathologized, I am here to walk that path with you.

Rose James

An integrative psychotherapist and counsellor offering a warm, LGBTQ+ affirming space for people who want to understand themselves better, feel more at ease in their own skin, and navigate life with a little more clarity and kindness.

I’m gay myself, and that lived experience informs how I work — particularly around identity, belonging, relationships, shame, self-acceptance, and the subtle ways LGBTQ+ people learn to adapt in order to feel safe or accepted. Many of the people I work with come to therapy wanting a space where they don’t have to explain themselves, translate their world, or educate their therapist in order to feel understood.

A lot of my clients are dealing with anxiety, self-doubt, relationship struggles, burnout, or a general sense of feeling “off” without quite knowing why. Some are exploring questions around sexuality, gender, or identity; others simply want space to slow down, reflect, and feel more grounded.

My approach is gentle, collaborative, and grounded in psychology. We’ll look at what’s going on beneath the surface — patterns, emotions, beliefs, and relational habits — and work together to make sense of them in a way that feels supportive rather than overwhelming.

I’m particularly aware of how LGBTQ+ people can end up carrying extra layers of pressure, self-criticism, or people-pleasing from trying to stay safe, fit in, or be accepted. Therapy can be a place to slowly let some of that go.

I aim to offer a space that feels:
-Safe, respectful, and affirming
Curious rather than judgemental
-Emotionally supportive but also practical
-Led by your pace, your values, and what matters to you

You don’t need to have everything figured out to start — just a sense that you want something to feel different.

I work with adults navigating anxiety, trauma, burnout, grief, low self esteem, suicidal thoughts, family complexity, and relationship patterns that feel hard to shift. Many of my clients are very good at coping. They are just tired of doing it alone.

My approach is person centred and relational. That means I am not here to fix you or analyse you from a distance. I am here to understand you. We build safety first, putting the therapuetic relationship at the forefront.

With thirteen years of experience in mental health, including suicide prevention and trauma informed work, as well as lived experiences in LGBTQIA+ identity, trauma, neurodiveristy and disability, I bring steadiness as well as warmth. I care deeply about creating a space where you feel genuinely seen.

You do not have to have it all figured out before you come.

Ruby Pinder

I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist registered with the HCPC and a Chartered Member of the British Psychological Society, with over twenty years of clinical experience. I have worked with LGBTQ+ clients throughout my career, including over four years at London Friend, one of the UK's longest-established LGBTQ+ support organisations, based in Kings Cross, as well as in my private practice. I provide a safe, affirming, and nonjudgemental space where individuals can explore questions of identity, sexuality, gender, relationships, and the unique psychological challenges that can arise from living as an LGBTQ+ person. My approach is integrative, drawing on CBT, EMDR, Schema Therapy, ACT, and CAT, tailored to each individual's needs

The Psychotherapy Clinic

I am a Counselling Psychologist and Psychotherapist with a strong commitment to affirmative, culturally responsive work with LGBTQ+ clients. During my UK placements, including at Gay Men’s Therapy and Positive East, I supported clients navigating mental health, identity, relationships, and the wider impact of stigma and discrimination. My doctorate investigated gay men’s lived experiences of recovering from burnout, exploring how recovery can be shaped by minority stress, internalised stigma, and identity processes, alongside resilience and meaning making.

I do not fit this role as a licensed therapist or healthcare professional, as I do not provide psychotherapy or clinical treatment. Instead, my work sits within the scope of specialist, affirming coaching informed by lived experience, academic expertise, and professional practice.

I bring a strong combination of personal experience as a queer person and a solid academic and professional background in gender and sexuality studies, neuroscience for human interactions, and emotional coaching. This allows me to offer informed, reflective, and affirming coaching support to LGBTQ+ individuals, while maintaining clear ethical boundaries and an explicit distinction from therapeutic or clinical interventions.

My coaching work focuses on emotional regulation, self-understanding, communication, identity integration, and navigating personal, relational, and professional challenges in affirming ways. I have extensive experience supporting LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent clients through one-to-one and group coaching, as well as delivering educational and wellbeing-focused workshops. These sessions are goal-oriented, non-clinical, and designed to empower clients with practical tools and reflective insights rather than therapeutic treatment.

I am trained in Mental Health First Aid and work with a strong awareness of safeguarding, scope-of-practice limits, and referral pathways. Where therapeutic or clinical support is more appropriate, I actively encourage and signpost clients to qualified mental health or healthcare professionals.

Overall, I offer specialist LGBTQ+-affirming coaching grounded in lived experience, neuroscience-informed understanding, and professional coaching practice, providing supportive, ethical, and non-clinical spaces for personal growth, self-awareness, and resilience rather than therapy.

“You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.” ~ Buddha

There is no relationship as important as the one we forge with ourselves, but sometimes it can be challenging knowing how to develop and nurture that relationship. We may often feel that we might have lost sight of what we need, but I believe with the right support anyone has the tools to become the truest version of themselves.

Now for introductions, my name is Jo and I am an NCPS accredited pluralistic counsellor, who is humanistic in nature. My approach utilises three varying modalities: Person-centred Humanistic, Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

I believe in offering a strong non-judgemental environment, that I hope you will be able to utilise as a safe space, to explore and work through any thoughts feelings and experiences that may have been challenging you or causing you issue. The space I offer will always be yours and I am only there to support you on this journey of growth that you have bravely decided to take your first steps in.

I want to reassure, that any individual and any problem is welcome within my space. I have a lot of experience with both the neurodivergent and the LGBTIQA+ communities, and hope that all those who are struggling may find the space that they are looking for here.

I could tell you more about myself, but I feel it would be far better to meet me, in order for you to learn more and to decide what is best for you. Equally I will always be looking forward to meeting you and learning all about the wonder that is you.

So, thank you for taking the time to read my profile and I hope that I may be lucky enough to hear from you soon.

Kindest Always.
